Flouride Treatment
Tooth decay is the most common chronic disease affecting American children, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Fortunately, we offer fluoride treatment in our office and are able to advise you on other ways to protect your smile. For example, our dentists may recommend fluoridated toothpaste or mouth rinse you can use at home.
If you’re prone to getting cavities, ask our dentists if you’re a candidate for fluoride treatment.
Fluoride Treatment at the Dentist
The white outer layer of your teeth protects the more sensitive dentin beneath, which is why we often recommend fluoride treatment for our patients. During your appointment, we’ll apply topical fluoride varnish to the surface of your teeth. Fluoride varnish strengthens tooth enamel, protecting teeth from cavity-causing plaque. The type of treatment we use is at a higher concentration than what you’d be able to find over the counter.
Fluoride Treatment at Home
Depending on your oral health needs, we may recommend prescription-strength fluoride toothpaste or mouth rinse. Our preventative dentists will be able to determine the best solution for your smile.
Since consuming excess fluoride can cause streaks and spots on the surface of teeth (fluorosis), it’s important you let our dentists know what fluoride products you’re using so we can monitor your intake.
We understand if you’re on a budget, which is why we offer fluoride treatment to help you avoid the cost of fillings, dental crowns, and other tooth restorations.
